Thursdays.........and other things

Just a reminder that tomorrow is our Thursday crop. We have been really quiet the last couple of Thursday nighters, so try and come and join us. Another date for your diary- we are having a 'committee' (I use the term loosely) meeting at my house on Tuesday June 3rd at 7.30. There will be drinks, and I might even bake a cake! Agenda items so far are
1) retreat 2) charity crop (Trish) 3)selling/business protocol 4)equipment 5)Thursday night crops.
If you have anything to add email me at donnadowd59@hotmail.com or bring your ideas along on the night.

Just tooting!

Trish is making the great book to try our different techniques. It's so inspiring. I could hardly choose which page to put on here, but this is my favourite. So creatively done.
This is Carolyn's mini book of all our retreat photos. It's so good. I love the neat and clean style. Wish I could do that. Every page is just as cool as the cover.

Just had to give a little toot to some very talented scrappers (and good friends) from our crop. This is Carols book of letters that she made for her daughter. Each page has photos and an envelope containing letters from all her friends and family. What a fabulous gift! Love it.

And - don't write on toothpaste!

There's a scentence you never thought you'd hear! I ruined 2 pens trying to write on toothpaste, one of which was my new drawing pen :( Can't believe I did that. I had to go down town this morning just to get a new one! Another note about the layout- the yummy flourish at the bottom was a product of our new crop cricut cartridge. I have bought the new 'home accents' cart- and it is fab! I've changed the Cricut blade and got a new mat and it's cutting really well again. This is what you have to look forward to.

What's toothpaste got to do with scrapbooking?

Absoloutley nothing! I was so impressed by a layout in Legacy magazine that had used toothpaste as a background instead of paint, so I had to have a try. Be warned- toothpaste is very messy, gets everywhere except where it should be, takes ages to dry, and looks no different to white paint! I did stamp into it, with a little success, but I think embossing paste would have worked better. Anyway- I did eventually finish the layout which I am pleased with. Here it is

I've sold most of my quickutz stuff. Now it's sadly time to part with my Cricut :( It's a great machine and I will miss it (if it weren't for the fact that I'm getting an expressions!) It's been well looked after, comes with a new blade and 2 new cutting mats. I am asking £110 for it. I am not including any cartridges with it because I can't bear to let go of any. You can buy them for around £30 from the U.S.

The plan for the class is coming together. I have 3 'students', possibly 4. It's going to be a bargain- just enough to cover the costs of materials because this is an experiment for me!

I'm flat on my back again - not just being lazy either! My back is bad again, but on the plus side, I am spending time getting inspired. I am taking notes of my ideas and making plans. Hopefully I will be back on my feet for the next crop. If not they will have to wheel me there in my bed!

Selling Quickutz

To help with my classes, I've decided to get a cricut expressions, so to make some money for it I am selling all my quickuts stuff. It's a great set, and if anyone is interested I would sell it at a good price as a job lot.

Details can be found on uk scrappers market place- follow the link

Thanks

the future's bright........

I'm hoping to run the occasional scrapbooking workshop from home. I have a huge passion for teaching and I keep trying to send it away, but it just won't go! I already have a long list of ideas for things I want to try. I am not short of inspiration- but not so good at follow through :) I am thinking an intimate affair- maybe just 4 people, in my conservatory, with pleasant music, home baked cake for refreshments, and, of course, exciting projects to work on together. It's as much about sharing creative moments as it is about what you take home, but I hope that the end results will be impressive too! I'm researching and will make some prototypes as examples. Let me know if you are interested.
