getting better.....

his This is so easy! OK, for me it will never replace scrapbooking as I know and love it, but this is a lot of fun for a little work, and I'm liking the results. This is a photo that means a lot to me, I think it's one of a very few that show my Grandparents together, having a good time. They had a tough life, but were wonderful people. The other great thing about digi is that it is so simple to email to family, which I think I will go and do right now!

Loving this idea.....

I found a great blog about how to store and organise scrapping supplies. Have a look. Its http://craftystorage.blogspot.com/search?updated-max=2008-02-11T12%3A01%3A00Z&max-results=15I
I saw this and thought I'd share! Donna Downey has come up with a brill way of storing her ribbons. Any other great ideas for ribbon storage out there?

class inspiration

Here's the whole picture of the inspiration for my class. It went well, by the way (at least I thought so!) and I hope to do more when all the weddings are done, and I get my sanity back :) Class photos to follow.

I'm trying digi!!!

It's not much, but here it is, my first attempt at digi. I downloaded some free stuff from creating keepsakes, then played, following some Rhona Farrer instructions from 2 peas. If you have some time to mess around, it's really fun to learn.

class- sneak preview!!!

This is just to whet the appetite of those coming to my class at home. I have just made the prototype- and I'm loving it! The one in the picture is not mine, its of the web. Sorry I can't credit the designer, but I saved it a while ago and can't remember where I saw it. This is such a fun project to make. For those who want to do the class who I couldn't fit in this time, I will show you the finished project soon and maybe we can run it again. I can only fit 4 in at a time at home because I want you all to have enough space to spread out :-) I have so many ideas that I am desperate to try! Energy is limited at the moment though- so I have to pace myself!!!

crop meeting

We had a very productive crop committee meeting- here's the minutes that Chris Gregory put together for us. Great job Chris, thanks.

First Business Meeting of Members of the Penkridge Crop Tuesday 3 June 2008

Present: Donna, Michelle, Zoe, Chris Harrison, Carolyn, Chris Gregory

Title of group
Should we have a formal committee, or a more simple arrangement? This issue was discussed throughout the meeting and it was finally agreed that in the interest of clarity, the group would be called a committee.

Equipment
It was agreed that individual committee members would take responsibility for particular items of equipment owned by the crop. A booking system will be set up – one book for all the equipment and details of who is responsible for each item and any loan arrangements. Equipment monitors are:-

Cricut and cartridges Chris Harrison
Melting Pot Donna
Three sheets of stamps Carolyn
Bind-It-All Zoe

Loan arrangements were agreed. The Cricut will only be used at the crop, except in exceptional circumstances when there will be a £2 hire charge to cover the cost of replacement blades and cutting mats. The Cricut cartridges will be available to borrow, except for the George cartridge which will remain with the Cricut. A refundable deposit of £5 will be charged for the loan of the cartridges. Other items will be available to borrow free of charge. The Bind-It-All will be loaned without binding wires. Each item of equipment will be labelled by the relevant monitor with their name and contact telephone number, plus any loan arrangements.

Newsletter
The crop newsletter, or Journal of the Penkridge Croppers, will continue to be produced by Carolyn and is to be called “Scrap Chat”. It will be issued quarterly with a front sheet of standing items of information with additional information and news of events, etc., on subsequent pages.

Sale of craft items
Anyone selling craft items can advertise these in the newsletter. There will still be a table available for members to put out items for sale and members will be invited to put up posters about other items for sale on the wall behind the table.

Thursday evening crop
Donna will ask members about their views on maintaining an evening session at the next Saturday crop. If there is likely to be only six or less attending on Thursday evenings, these sessions could be arranged to take place at the craft shop.

Refreshments
Each member will bring their own supplies, although milk and boiling water will be provided.

Venue
It was agreed to keep the same venue for the time being. Members will put out their own tables and will be responsible for returning them to the store cupboard before they leave.

Crop times
Times of sessions were confirmed as Saturdays - 9.30 till 4pm and Thursdays – 6.30 till 9pm.

Classes and demonstrations
There will be a class at every third crop. Trish agreed to help Donna with organising classes. There will be a rota for demonstrations and all members will be invited to offer demonstrations on those dates when there is not a class

Fundraising
There will be a cropathon on Saturday 11 October from 9.30am till 9.30pm in aid of Breast Cancer Research. Entrance will be £10 each which will include a goody bag. Carolyn will produce an official Penkridge Crop sponsor form. There will be a “Pink Class”, a raffle and food available to buy.

Retreat
The next weekend retreat will be booked for February 2009 (either Friday 6th or the 13th) at the same venue.

Next meeting
The next meeting will be at 7.30pm on Tuesday 2 September 2008 at Donna’s house.
